Thermal Camera Calibration in Inspection Robots
Retrofitting a Boston Dynamics Spot for thermal-enhanced LiDAR inspection.
Motivation
This project is motivated by the availability of a Boston Dynamics Spot by Qapture GMBH, the sister company to Cirqular.ai.
We have been in active discussions regarding the retrofitting of this robot for automated and teleoperated inspection tasks. Leveraging our team’s strong capabilities in LiDAR processing, the primary technical goal is to “backpaint” the generated 3D pointclouds with observed thermal data. This fusion of thermal and geometric data represents a unique, high-value offering for industrial facility inspection, allowing for the detection of heat leaks or overheating machinery within a precise 3D spatial context.
